Holiday Challenge – Read More

Can in grass

Recently I visited a school where the children learned about plastic waste and the vast quantity of plastic waste in our rivers, lakes, seas and oceans, and how it adversely affects the ecosystem and wildlife. The problem of plastic waste had clearly moved the children. It is not the responsibility of the children to sort the problem out, so I asked a pupil “what one thing do you think the adults should do to help?” She immediately replied “when we go on holiday, pick up ten pieces of litter“. So as we come to the summer holidays and some of us are lucky enough to head to the seaside or walk in the countryside, remember this child’s plea and pick up ten pieces of litter. Let’s give our children a sign of hope and show that we care too.

Litter by the roadside
Litter accumulates around built-up areas, roads and water courses, leading to plastic pollution in our lakes, seas and oceans

If you keep seeing the same brand during your litter picking and feel you need to do something more then perhaps you may be interested in letting the company behind the brand know about it.
