A Local Pilgrimage

Darley Park Derby

Have you considered looking at your local area through the eyes of the encyclical Laudato Si’? Perhaps it will transform the way you experience a local landscape. Areas that may be familiar will seem fresh and new. You could learn about the history of the landscape, use your senses and imagination to be at one with the past, present and future of the places you step through. Even if we might have walked the path before, being with people unfamiliar to us will mean we experience the journey in a new way. We suggest a mix of readings, silence and sharing thoughts with our fellow pilgrims on the walk so that this becomes a journey to a holy place outside of our normal comfort zone.

Here we share our local pilgrimage from St Mary’s Derby to St Mary’s Chapel on the Bridge. If you are local you might want to try it for yourself. If you are from far away we hope it can inspire you to create your own local pilgrimage.
