Electric Commute – Read More

Moving towards an electrified transport system means we can ultimately use renewable energy instead of fossil fuels for getting around. The daily commute can be a stressful and polluting part of the day. Long commutes where walking (or even cycling) is not practical is where the electric option becomes attractive.

Even urban public transport is beginning to shift towards electrification. The number of electric trains is increasing and more and more electric buses are being spotted in our towns. However many people require transportation to places that are off the bus route or far from a railway station and that is where the electric car becomes a great option. Electric cars are easy and fun to drive and because they are so smooth and without the fumes are healthier and less stressful than older cars. We’ve previously looked at the advantages and disadvantages of electric cars here.

Cycling is also a great option for the daily commute. If your journey is a little longer than you are comfortable with on a traditional bicycle or includes hills then an e-bike might work for you. They are affordable and fun, though it is important to consider safety and what is legal since some models bought online may not be approved for use in your country (the rules in the UK can be read here). For longer commutes an electric motorbike may be an option too although these are best for people who are replacing traditional motorbikes or hold motorbike licences.
