Thank you

Butterfly

As part of our living thank-you, we take a moment to say thank you to those who work behind the scenes to care for our common home from all communities.

Laudato Si’ helps us to see the effect that human society has on the created world and encourages us to protect our common home. The two planetary challenges of our time are the rapid impact of human activity on biodiversity loss and the modification of our climate through the release of greenhouse gases. In Laudato Si’ we learn of their interconnectedness and also how these challenges are interconnected with all our lives, especially the marginalised and poor. However there is hope: decarbonisation, the act of reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, is possible and increasingly attractive and on livinglaudatosi.com we regularly explore different practical steps in decarbonisation too. There is so much more to do and most of the effort is yet to be enacted but we are in a position of knowledge, understanding and have technological options that would have been inconceivable 50 years ago. Perhaps it is fitting to take this moment to extend a thank-you to thank four groups of people in a series of four further gratitude-themed posts:

Let us thank the scientists who have opened our eyes

Let us thank the societal and political leaders who have had the courage to lead

Let us thank the engineers, innovators and researchers who have developed solutions

Let us thank the early investors and early adopters who have provided finance and economic demand for green tech
