An Autumnal Prayer

Darley Park View

Autumn is a season of many visible changes. A reminder that change is possible and sometimes necessary to help repair and rebalance for the future. As we walk through our local parks and open our eyes to the intricate beauty of creation, we can compose our own personal prayer for a future where we live more in harmony with our Sister, Mother Earth.

Pray… that I have the courage to make changes in the spirit of Laudato Si’.

“Praise be to you, my Lord, through our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with coloured flowers and herbs.” (from Canticle of the Creatures, St Francis of Assisi)

Anyone of whatever age can compose a prayer inspired by an autumnal walk. Here are a couple of prayers suggested by children:

God we are going to take care of nature and animals. Amen.
In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Pope Francis sent us a big important message and it is caring for nature. Amen.
And there are many things that you have to remember. And insects. Amen.
Pope Francis sent us hope to care for the world with his Laudato Si'. And this is what we have to do. Amen.

Thank you Lord for

Squirrels
Hedgehogs

and Bats
Amen.
