Some changes cost a lot of money to make even if they may save much more money over the longer term. We could get loans (money lent that needs to be repaid, like to a bank). But not everyone is eligible (allowed) and some people are not comfortable with taking on more debt. It’s better when grants are available (money given for something that does not need to be repaid). Grants are good for projects that benefit society and local communities.
For example, grants for people to insulate their homes or put up solar panels can reduce electricity needed in an area. Reducing electricity used can save society money by not needing new power stations or new electricity lines.
