Water Flow in a River

Hydrogen from electrolysis – that is the splitting of water into hydrogen gas and oxygen gas by passing an electric current through it – gives us the possibility to use green hydrogen as a fuel. This the central aim of the hydrogen economy we hear about on the news. Industry is keen on hydrogen because it is a carbon free fuel that provides a route to removing carbon dioxide from high temperature industrial processes where heat pumps will not work. How do we make steel in the future, for example?

Hydrogen will enable us to use fuel cells and some even suggest hydrogen could be used for aircraft in the future and perhaps for cooking too!
