The principle being applied on lighting is that where LED bulbs can be purchased as direct replacements for conventional filament or spot bulbs then they shall be replaced. Entirely new lighting schemes are not currently planned.

The central spot light for the Pieta Chapel was replaced with an LED spot light in 2022. This is used extensively during Advent and Christmas as it is used to illuminate the nativity scene and crib.

The Return on Investment for a LED bulb replacing a conventional filament bulb can be as little as a few months. When a new LED bulb is replacing a CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamp) then the Return on Investment may be a few years depending on the power consumption ratings.

Original project from 2021

LED lighting is being considered for inside the church. Standard church lighting schemes are being looked into but there is an interest in understanding more about theatrical type lighting options that might be easily integrated. Anyone with contacts or expertise in theatre or concert type lighting effects using low-energy lights is welcome to use the Contact page on this website. Many thanks.
